Hi CupquakeFan. I approved your request, and I'm here to help. I'll repond to each of your items in the order they appeared.
I noticed there were some lovely links on the Yogscast Wiki home page. When you mouse over them there is a nice effect which I quite like. I understand how the picture links are made, but could not figure out how they created the mouseover effect when I looked at the source code of the templates. Is this something to do with the css or java?
That effect is being done with CSS. If you go to their MediaWiki:Common.css page and scroll down about halfway, you'll see some items that start with .home-links and .home-creators. That block of CSS is what's doing it.
If you want me to help create a section on the main page using that effect, please give me all the details and information, and I'll be happy to help.
I have noticed many wikis have a rounded navigation bar at the top. Could our wiki get this?
This is also done with CSS. I've seen a lot of different navigation customization, so link me to a wiki that has the rounded effect you want to use, and I'll set it up here.
Also, I was wondering if you could enable the variable extension
There are so many categories with only one or two pages in them, and the only way I have found to delete them is to go in to the classic wiki editor on each page in the category and remove the page from the category until there are no pages left. Is there a more effective method of doing this?
I'm afraid not. That's the only way to "delete" categories.
If I could get a new wordmark based on iHasCupquake's new logo here, and a background based on the "Sweet Friends" here I would be so grateful!
Take a look at this preview showing a new background and logo. If you like it, I'd be happy to upload them.
I love the preview; please upload them! Thanks so much! I copied the block of code from yogscast common.css to our common.css and tried to make a template. There was also some code with the .home-family on the Wikia.css that I also copied to our wikia.css. This is what I ended up with. Where have I gone wrong? If it is easier for you just to make one I would like the banner at the top that says The iHasCupquake Family and a grid centered below it just like on the Yogscast Wiki with the Cupquake and Red pages linked to File:Cupquake_Chibi.PNG and File:Red_Chibi.PNG. As for the navigation, I quite like how the navigation on the Villains Wiki looks, with some different colors, however.
I just uploaded the new background and logo. I'm glad you like them!
This is what I ended up with. Where have I gone wrong?
Actually, you didn't do anything wrong. It turns out that I needed to "flip a switch" on our end that forces Common.css to load for the main Wikia skin (Oasis). If you go to Template:Home-family now and purge your browser cache (Ctrl+F5), you'll see that everything is working correctly.
As for the navigation, I quite like how the navigation on the Villains Wiki looks, with some different colors, however.
Go to Wikia.css at Villains Wiki and scroll down until you see the block of CSS that starts with this:
Copy everything there, and of course stop when you come to /* navigation boxes */. All of that CSS isn't changing the color of the navigation (just adding other effects and styles), so when you use it here, the nav bar should still be the current teal color.
